Pembakaran uang

Pembakaran uang adalah sebuah tindakan menghancurkan uang. Dalam contoh khas, uang kertas dihancurkan dengan dinyalakan api. Membakar uang mengurangi kekayaan pemiliknya tanpa secara langsung memperkaya pihak manapun. Namun, menurut teori kuantitas uang, karena mengurangi persediaan uang, hal ini meningkatkan kekayaan kolektif dari setiap orang lainnya yang memegang uang.

Uang biasanya dibakar untuk memberikan sebuah pesan, untuk efek artistik, sebagai bentuk protes, atau sebagai sinyal. Dalam permainan, seorang pemain terkadang dapat dimanfaatkan dari kemampuan membakar uang (battle of the sexes). Pembakaran uang dianggap ilegal pada beberapa yuridiksi.
